When it comes to sweepstakes, TRD and K&N know how to deliver. TRD and K&N teamed up to sponsor the 2014 K&N Horsepower Challenge Sweepstakes, which was held at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Eight lucky fans were selected to participate in this once-in-a-lifetime weekend. These finalists—each one got to bring a guest, too—were flown to Las Vegas, Nevada for the finals of the K&N Horsepower Challenge, which was held in conjunction with the SummitRacing.com NHRA Nationals. At the race, they were paired with one of the eight NHRA Pro Stock drivers who qualified for the event. The finalists got to hang out with their driver and team, getting a behind-the-scenes look at NHRA Pro Stock drag racing. Then at the end of the weekend, the lucky finalist who was paired with the winning driver took home a TRD-customized 2014 Toyota Tacoma! That’s the way to roll the dice and come out a winner!
The K&N Horsepower Challenge is a three-round shoot-out, with the top driver taking home $50,000. At the 2014 event, it was Erica Enders-Stevens standing in the winner’s circle along with her “fan,” Anne Perkins of Brookings, Oregon.
Erica was the first woman to win this event, and Anne was blown away as she took home a customized 2014 Toyota Tacoma HPC, created by TRD just for this event. “It was really cool to be selected as one of the eight finalists and be in Vegas for the weekend. Winning that beautiful Tacoma was just an added benefit that I could not believe,” Perkins said. “Erica took us into the trailer and showed us where they build the transmissions and work on things like the clutch system. She showed us some computer data and the weather system as well. She was so sweet. They treated us like family, and I don’t think I could’ve picked a better racer. It was ‘girl power’ all day, and we felt like rock stars out there!”
The 2014 K&N Horsepower Challenge is a real fan favorite, particularly for the eight finalists who were TRD’s guests at this event.
Eight lucky fans were selected and flown (along with their guests) to Las Vegas for the finals of the K&N Horsepower Challenge, where Anne Perkins ended up being paired with the winning driver. “We want to commend all eight drivers for putting on a great show and congratulate Erica Enders-Stevens on her first win. Erica will certainly enjoy her bragging rights and Anne will undoubtedly enjoy cruising around her small, coastal town of Brookings, Oregon, in that beautiful Toyota Tacoma. All in all, the 2014 K&N Horsepower Challenge was a phenomenal event,” said Caitlin Clement, Series and Track Manager for K&N Engineering.
Looking to add horsepower and torque to your Toyota truck? The easiest, most dramatic and most reliable solution is to add a TRD supercharger. They’re designed and developed to deliver the extra torque you need for towing, passing and carrying heavy loads. And because they pack more air into every cylinder stroke, they’re especially effective at higher altitudes. Plus, they are 50-state emissions legal.
